Most rib flare advice is generic posture content that misses the specific breathing and core mechanics involved. Here's why your efforts haven't moved it, and what does.
Your lower ribs stick out and nothing helps
You've tried posture work, breathing tips and core training and the flare persists, because most advice is built for healthy ribcages, not flare mechanics.
You've been told it's just your anatomy
'You're naturally built that way.' Some variance is real, but functional flare, driven by breathing pattern, core failure and habit, can and does change.
You bought a brace but don’t know how to train with it
Compression and exercise get taught as separate things.
Your breathing is shallow and chest-dominant
Rib flare and chest-dominant breathing reinforce each other in a loop.
Your core engagement isn't working right
Flared ribs disrupt the ribcage–pelvis relationship needed for true deep-core activation.
You can't find anything specific to rib flare
Most pectus content covers excavatum or carinatum.
The reframe that changes everything
Your breath shapes your ribs 20,000 times a day.
A chest-dominant habit reinforces the flared position with every one of those breaths. Re-pattern the breath, restore the deep core, and the lower ribs finally have a reason to come down, and stay down.
20,000daily breaths shaping rib position
8–16 wksto measurable rib-angle change
02 / The evidence
Backed by the research, not just my opinion.
positional flare
2–4 wks
functional rib flare visibly improves, you change position, not bone
respiratory biomechanics
ZOA
the zone of apposition, a full exhale lets the diaphragm pull ribs down
the daily reset
90/90
the supported breathing drill that resets rib position
the core model
Canister
diaphragm, pelvic floor, abs and spine stacked, ribs sit down
core training
Anti-extension
dead bugs, hollow holds, Pallof presses, not crunches, which reinforce flare
functional vs structural
Most fixable
rib flare is the most correctable chest-wall issue, it is function, not bone

Had the flare since i was about 14 and just assumed that was my ribcage, permanently. Brace plus the breathing drills and my mrs asked when i'd lost weight. I hadn't lost anything, it's just the ribs sitting where they should now.
didnt know you could be breathing wrong for 21 years. thats the whole thing right there. flare started going down on its own once i stopped breathing into my shoulders, which is not what i paid for but ill take it
ive bought like four programs for this over the years and quit every one of them by week two. finished this one. i think its cus you cant move on until you can actually hold the position, so theres never that thing where you're guessing if youre ready or not
I went in wanting to debunk it, honestly. Started opening the citations one at a time and they were real papers that said what he said they said. That is a depressingly low bar and nowhere else online clears it.
read the blog for months before i actually did anything with it. no coach, no brace, just the stuff in the articles done properly. i feel a lot better now and the photos say the rest
first call he told me straight up itd take a year and id hate months 2 through 5. he was right about both lol. 12 months on and my PC is flat. took my shirt off at the beach in january without doing the whole towel thing
the bell leaves a red ring on your chest the second you take it off, and nobody warns you about that. it fades within the hour and the skin has never been an issue since. 100% satisfied - the sternum sits higher than it has my whole life
the brace is made really good, i wear it under the t-shirt at school and nobody has noticed in 4 months. my mother was crying when we compare the photos. sorry for my english
He knows more about this than the two consultants I paid to see, which says more about them than it does about him. Showed my GP the 9 month photos and he asked me for the website. Half a star off because the time zones make the calls a nightmare from Ireland.
watched the youtube for six years before i spent a single cent. bought the program, did it properly for 7 months, and the only thing i actually regret is the six years
My son is 15 and had started keeping a shirt on in the pool, which is how I worked out something was wrong in the first place, because he certainly wasn't going to tell me. He would never have stuck with the brace on his own. It was the fortnightly check-ins that did it - he didn't want to turn up with nothing to report. Six months now and the ridge has visibly come down. He swims without the shirt.
1 cm off the depth in eight months. I had this filed under things about my body that got decided before I was born, and I'd stopped thinking about it somewhere in my twenties, so being wrong about it has been a strange few months honestly.

“came in skinny with a deep dip and ribs that stuck out at the bottom. six months, 4kg up. funny thing is nobody says anything about the dip, its the flare going down that people actually noticed”
“The brace did the flare, the training did the rest. Seven months, 6 kg on, 1 cm off the depth. The part I wasn't ready for is that I now own shirts that fit, after about fifteen years of buying everything one size too big.”
“I'm 52. I have both a ridge and a dip, which I'm told is unusual, and I've had the pair of them since I was a boy. Nine kilos off in five months and for the first time my chest looks like one chest. I did not expect to be sorting this out at my age, but there we are.”
“3 months and 5kg later the ridge is sitting lower than its ever been. i was 100% convinced surgery was the only option, like id already looked up how much it costs and everything”
“9 kilos in 6 months. the trick nobody tells you is you build the muscle around the ridge, then the ridge is not the first thing people see. before this i am buying only loose shirts, maybe 8 years like this”
“before, the carinatum is the first thing i see in every photo of me. now i show someone and they must ask me where it is. i did not have any surgery, only the training”
“Four months in and the side profile is the thing that changed. I used to clock myself in every shop window I walked past, at 30 years old, and I hadn't even noticed I was doing it until I stopped.”

Before You Start · Straight Answers
What people ask before they begin.
The four that come up most, answered the same way I would answer them on a call.
Posture and breathing shift inside the first few weeks. Visible chest change is slower - in the case log above, Milo hit his at 2 months, Ian at 6. The programs run 16 weeks because that is how long it takes to show in the mirror.
Am I too old for this to work?+
Almost certainly not. The clients on this page were 22 to 32 when they started. Cartilage stiffens with age, so progress is slower, but slower is not stopped. Age changes the timeline, not whether it is worth doing.
Do I need a gym, or can I do this at home?+
Either works. Every program ships with a gym track and a no-equipment track for the same 16 weeks, and you can switch between them mid-program without losing your place.
Pectus excavatum, carinatum, rib flare - is it the same plan?+
No, and that matters. A sunken chest and a protruding chest need close to opposite work, and rib flare rides along with both. There is a separate program for each, if you are not sure which you have, the 60-second quiz sorts it out.
04 / What you actually walk away with
Closed ribs, real core, better breath.
Me, corrected without surgery
Measurable rib-angle reduction
A concrete way to track subcostal-angle change over time, not 'it looks different', a calibrated measurement at defined checkpoints.
A breathing pattern that stops fighting you
Breathing retraining is the foundation most flare programs skip. Fix it and brace, exercise and posture all start working better.
Core function that finally works
Corrected rib mechanics unlock the deep-core engagement flare was blocking. People consistently report a different, real activation once ribs improve.
Abs that stop hiding
With the lower ribs drawn in instead of proud of your stomach, the core you've trained actually shows.
A flatter, calmer torso
Belly breathing instead of chest gasping, deeper, quieter breaths and a flatter front to match.
Correction that survives training
The strength patterns that compound rib closure as you get stronger, and the common gym habits that quietly undo it.
05 / The curriculum
Eight connected modules. One correction system.
Breathing first, then mobility, core, compression and loaded strength, in the order that closes the ribs and keeps them closed.
The three drivers (breathing pattern, core activation failure and postural habit) and how to identify which combination is yours.

03Core & postural assessment
04Finding your combination
Diaphragmatic Breathing ReprogrammingModule 02
The retraining sequence that addresses the chest-dominant pattern driving rib elevation, lateral expansion, posterior diaphragm activation and the breath mechanics that begin repositioning the ribs.
01Undoing chest-dominant breathing
02Lateral rib expansion
03Posterior diaphragm activation
04Breathing the ribs down
Intercostal & Thoracic MobilityModule 03
Opening the lateral chest wall and thoracic spine to create the physical space for rib closure, mobilisations, stretching and soft-tissue work specific to flare.
01Lateral chest-wall opening
02Thoracic spine mobility
03Flare-specific stretching
04Targeted soft-tissue work
Deep Core Activation for Rib ClosureModule 04
Transverse abdominis activation in the correct ribcage position, oblique patterns that compress laterally, and the progression from isolated activation to loaded movement.
01Transverse abdominis activation
02The correct ribcage position
03Lateral-compression obliques
04Isolated to loaded progression
Compression Brace ProtocolModule 05
If you use a brace, the wear schedule, tightening progression, positioning and the exercise pairings that make compression and training work together.
01Brace wear schedule
02Tightening progression
03Correct positioning
04Pairing brace with training
Postural Rebalancing & Daily MovementModule 06
The standing, sitting and movement habits that reinforce flare versus the positions that hold correction, building rib closure into daily life so it sticks.
Identify your specific flare pattern, take baseline rib-angle measurements and photos, and set your starting drills.

I had it myself
09 / Who built this
I had it. I fixed it. Now I help you do the same.
I'm not writing this as a doctor looking at a scan. I had the sunken chest, the flared ribs, the shirt that stayed on at the pool, and nobody could tell me what actually works.
Years of consistent, non-surgical training made mine unnoticeable. Everything on this page exists because I needed it to exist ten years ago.
I tested all of it on my own body first, then refined it every time someone hit a wall I had not planned for.

13 / FAQ
Common questions.
Do I need a rib flare brace?+
Not necessarily. The breathing, core and mobility work in modules 01–04 and 06 produce results without a brace. Compression accelerates correction in most cases and is covered in Module 05, but the course is fully usable without one.
Does this apply to one-sided flare or both?+
Both. The assessment module helps you identify your pattern, asymmetric flare often has a different driver than bilateral flare, and the protocol adapts accordingly.
Can I do this alongside regular training?+
Yes, and the later modules cover exactly how to integrate rib correction into a training program. Some exercise patterns compound correction; others undo it. Module 07 maps this explicitly.
Is this suitable for teenagers?+
Yes, the protocol adapts to skeletal maturity. Adolescents often improve faster because the ribcage is still developing. The assessment module flags age-specific considerations.
How fast will I see results?+
Many people feel breathing and core changes within the first couple of weeks; visible and measurable rib-angle change typically follows over the first 8–16 weeks of consistent work.
How much time does it take each day?+
The daily reset is 15–20 minutes of breathing and positional work, plus 3–4 training sessions a week once the corrective loading phase starts. It’s designed to run alongside a normal life, not replace it.
Will this work for me as an adult?+
Yes, and rib flare is actually the most age-tolerant of the three conditions, because most flare is functional: position and muscle balance, not fused bone. Adults routinely improve it; the assessment module sets honest expectations for your case.
Can breathing exercises really move my ribs?+
It sounds too simple, but it's mechanics: a full exhale lets the diaphragm pull the lower ribs down and in (the zone of apposition), and you repeat that pattern roughly 20,000 times a day. Re-pattern the breath and the ribs get a consistent input toward closed, that's why it's Module 01, not a warm-up.
My flare came with pectus excavatum, which do I fix first?+
Common combination. If the dip is your dominant concern, start with the PE course, its breathing work improves flare too. If the flare bothers you more, start here. The free quiz gives you a straight recommendation for your case.
Is my flare structural, the kind exercises can’t fix?+
A minority of flares involve genuinely prominent costal cartilage that repositioning won’t fully close. The self-assessment in Module 01 helps you tell functional from structural honestly, and even structural cases usually improve, because position always contributes something.
When do I actually get it?+
On 31 Aug 2026. I'm still filming, and you're pre-ordering — that's why it's $97 instead of $197. On the day it's finished, the link lands in your inbox automatically. If the date ever moves I'll email you before it does, and you can take a refund instead of waiting. Lifetime access and free updates once it's yours.
What if it’s not for me?+
Go through it properly first. If it isn't what I promised, one email in the first 30 days gets you a full refund, no explanation needed.
