The Neo G Dorsolumbar Support brace can improve poor posture and minimize rib flare.

I decided to buy it and give it a try. In this post, I will do a detailed review of the brace and how you can maximize its effectiveness in improving pectus excavatum.

  • Supports and lessens thoracic kyphosis
  • It helps put exterior compression on the abnormally-shaped protruding ribs
  • A multi-functional brace that improves lordosis, and kyphosis
  • It helps with rounded or slumped shoulders and improves posture
  • Flexible and firm stays provide adjustable back support to your desired level
  • Breathable material provides optimal airflow and minimizes sweating
  • Adjustable straps allow you to change the brace to your body shape flawlessly
  • Comfort arm pads for increased comfort and wearability
  • You can wear the slimline form of the brace under everyday clothes
  • Relieves pain associated with bad posture and pectus excavatum

  • The shoulder straps are too small. Always order one size up.
  • It can be uncomfortable on the armpits and shoulders after wearing it for a long time.
  • It makes it harder to breathe while doing a physical activity with the brace on

Neo G Dorsolumbar Support brace review

The Neo G Dorsolumbar Support brace comes with an option of metal or plastic stays. The solid stays allow you to readjust the amount of straps flexibility, the external pressure, and the support you need.

While wearing the Neo G brace, you become fully aware of your posture. You are becoming conscious about your body positioning, and you’ll feel unnatural when you curve your spine.

It trains you to think about keeping your back straight. The Neo G brace is easy to adjust. It holds the back and shoulders correctly and naturally, making you stand straight. It puts enough external pressure on the abnormally flared ribs with hardly any effort on your part.

However, the pressure is not as high as in Sydney Haje’s DCC2 or Lace IT brace. Because of that, I would recommend the LaceIT brace more if you have flared ribs.

Consider the Neo G brace if you have a slight rib flare, mild dent in the chest, and very poor posture. The anatomical design of the brace contours perfectly on your body. The shape of your body and bone structure doesn’t matter.

The brace will adjust accordingly, thanks to the flexible straps. The effect of bracing is better when you combine it with vacuum bell therapy. That’s a proven and effective way to improve sunken chest deformity.

The quality of the materials is good for the price point. It is very reasonably priced and affordable for anyone. If you don’t have enough money to purchase the Lace IT brace, this is an excellent brace to start.

The fabric has perforations that provide airflow and prevent sweating. It was summertime when I purchased the brace. At the time, I stayed in Southern Europe, where the summers can be scorching.

It is incredibly uncomfortable and tiring to soak in sweat during the summertime heat because your posture brace doesn’t provide airflow. Luckily, I didn’t have trouble with that with the Neo G brace.

Please don’t allow your posture and your caved chest to worsen because you aren’t willing to invest $70 for a product that will improve your physical well-being. The flexible fabric contours fit perfectly around your body, thanks to the stretchy and breathable materials.

The product also has A-grade durability and is incredibly easy to clean and maintain. I recommend you wash the brace every week, with your other clothes. It has an easily washable fabric that air-dries quickly.

Even if you don’t suffer from this deformity, the brace can help you with muscle aches and spasms caused by bad posture. It supports rounded shoulders and improves your posture.

You can also reduce early thoracic kyphosis by forcing a correct positioning of the dorsal and lumbar spine. I recommend putting on the Neo G brace as soon as you feel some pain in the upper body. You can also wear it while you’re sleeping.

I already had another brace, called the Lace IT pectus excavatum brace, which helped me correct my protruding ribs to a great extent. I needed another lighter brace that I could wear without being a burden when I went out.

Also, the Neo G Dorsolumbar Support Brace is more of a posture-correcting brace than one that remodels abnormal bone structure. I noticed that I still had a forward head posture caused by kyphosis.

That’s a posture where the shoulders and upper back round forward. At the time, I didn’t know that the pectus excavatum deformity causes thoracic scoliosis.

In reality, a brace designed to support the thoracic spine would be better to improve the posture of a pectus excavatum patient. The Neo G brace is designed to stabilize the lumber portion of the spine (lower back, ranging from L1 – 5).

However, the brace is good enough to support your overall spine because of its tight adjustable straps. Many people, including me, had a lot of success with this brace. It made my pectus excavatum less obvious because my posture improved drastically.

After wearing it for a couple of weeks, I noticed a significant advancement in my posture. I was no longer walking and slumped over when I had the brace underneath my shirt. Nobody noticed that I wore a brace. What’s most important is that my confidence improved drastically.

Because of the immediate benefits I received when I first put the brace on, I was highly motivated to wear it all day long. At the time, I was satisfied with how the Lace IT brace corrected my protruding ribs. Now, it was time to focus more on posture.

Transitioning from wearing the Lace IT brace to the Neo G brace was very smooth, mainly because it was often very uncomfortable. However, as I said, physical discomfort is a part of the non-surgical correction process of pectus excavatum that you’ll get used to. As soon as I corrected my rib flare, purchasing and wearing the Neo G brace seemed like a reward.

The Neo G brace was so comfortable that I even wore it while sleeping. It is always good to have both braces depending on your budget and motivation. When you’re satisfied with good posture but your ribs stick out, put on the Lace IT brace, and vice versa. You can switch the two braces throughout the day if you suffer from flared ribs and poor pectus posture.

If I still had a severely inverted chest, that’s the path I would choose. I would wear the LaceIT brace while at home and switch it with the Neo G brace as soon as I walked out the door.

You can't rely only on the Neo G brace to improve pectus excavatum without surgery. In addition to wearing it, you should do a combination of corrective exercises, stretches, breathing exercises, and, most importantly, vacuum device therapy.

The Neo G brace comes with flexible and rigid stays. The rigid stays assist in stopping the growth of abnormal spinal curvatures from improper pectus posture. It is more effective to stop slouching and the long-term pain linked with pectus excavatum than flexible stays. The spine is straightened, and the shoulders are pulled back.

That is helpful because you can no longer complicate things simultaneously with separate braces. The Neo G Dorsolumbar Support brace has the potential to address all spinal and chest bone structure issues. It also provides excellent decompression of my lumbar vertebra while keeping my thoracic vertebra stable and my shoulders back correctly.

Every time you put on the Neo G brace, expect slight discomfort. Your body will feel strange. It will get pushed into an unnatural position. The bones, tendons, and ligaments aren’t used to the new proper posture you’ll achieve while wearing braces. However, it won’t feel as harsh as wearing the Lace IT brace.

Nevertheless, the Neo G Dorsolumbar Support brace is exceptionally comfortable because of the use of soft cotton and elastane materials. When it comes to correcting pectus excavatum, feeling discomfort is always welcomed. That’s the only way posture can be repaired, and bone structure reshaped.

I didn’t have this strange feeling when I wore some poor-quality braces I purchased from the local Orthopedic Medical Supply Store in my city. Also, I didn’t have any success while wearing those braces.

I am a massive advocate of pulling the brace fasteners as tight as you can, so it will provide enough compression to your protruding ribs. That’s the optimal way to correct protruding ribs and pectus excavatum through bracing. After trying on the Neo G brace for the first time, I noticed a significant improvement in my posture.

After I took it off, I felt a lot more powerful. I felt an instantaneous boost of confidence. Make it a habit to wear daily, so your body will get used to proper posture.

  • If you’re putting on the Neo G brace yourself, the best method is to put it on like a jacket. Grab the two primary Velcro fasteners on the front, pull them, and secure them into place.
  • Once snugly on, find the secondary fasteners and pull those around to the front. Adjust them correctly until you find the perfect fit. I recommend you pull them as tight as you can.
  • The last thing is to take the long fasteners hanging freely on the backside and get them behind you in a Criss cross-motion. Secure them tightly on the front, just like the other straps. These should sit on top of the large front fasteners. If done correctly, the brace should feel firm but not restrictive. If it feels painful and highly tight, take a moment to adjust it for optimal everyday comfort. However, make sure you increase the compression gradually.

In my experience, the Neo G Dorsolumbar Support brace runs small. A lot of customers that purchased the product state the same. That was the most common complaint about the product. In most cases, the shoulder straps were just too short.

When I purchased the product, I was 5’11” (1.80m) tall and weighed 160 lbs (73 kg). I ordered the size large. However, the brace was too constricting to my body. The upper torso straps that go over the shoulders and cross behind the back (before being fastened in the front) were way too short. That limited my range of motion in the arms.

I returned the product and ordered the X-Large. The company took care of the shipping and sent me a new brace the same day I returned the brace. The X-Large Neo G brace fitted me perfectly. I advise you always to purchase one size up if you want this excellent brace.

Children can also use the Neo G brace. For kids, you should look out for sizes XS and S. The product runs small, so I recommend getting an S for the children. They need to wear it for longer than a year so that they may grow a few inches during that period. That’s a big enough reason to order one size up.

The beauty of the Neo G support brace is that it is built for multiple purposes. It helps correct pectus excavatum and can also be used to treat other postural problems. I stumbled upon a customer that had Ankylosing Spondylitis with scoliosis, lordosis, pectus excavatum and kyphosis, and Hyper-Mobility Syndrome with a Limbus Vertebra.

You don’t need to see a picture of the sufferer to understand his posture’s terrible. His spine was highly unstable and required back support. He couldn’t function normally in his daily activities if he didn’t purchase the Neo G Dorsolumbar support brace. He said that the Neo G posture brace brought him back to life. The brace gave him a quarter of an inch to his height by straightening his spine.

The Neo G pectus excavatum brace is a multi-functional brace. It works best for those who suffer from mild congenital pectus excavatum and have overall posture and spinal issues.

I wouldn’t recommend it for pectus excavatum sufferers with extreme rib flare. For best results, tighten the fasteners as much as possible to provide enough external pressure to reshape the abnormal bones.

It may not feel very comfortable, but that’s the fastest way to improve the funnel chest without operation. It is far cheaper to correct the indented chest deformity without a Ravitch or Nuss procedure than to undergo these complicated operations that take forever to recover.

The pectus bar removal also requires additional surgery. Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency, UK registered this brace as a Class 1 Medical Device.

That says a lot about the quality of this postural brace. Children can also use the Neo G brace. For kids, you should look out for sizes XS and S. The product runs small, so I recommend you get an S for the children.

They need to wear it for longer than a year so that they may grow a few inches during that period. That’s a big enough reason to order one size up for the brace.

The Neo G posture brace is almost three times cheaper than the LaceIT pectus excavatum brace. The Neo G brace is the best option if your budget is tight.

However, suppose you have stable finances and correct the pectus excavatum deformity and poor posture as fast as possible without surgery. In that case, the combination of LaceIT and Neo G brace is the best choice. The LaceIT brace is designed and built to compress the abnormal areas in your chest that worsen the deformity.

The Neo G brace serves more like a posture brace but is recommended by doctors worldwide to help improve poor posture. At the end of the day, you won’t make a wrong decision if you choose to buy one brace over the other.
